Terms of Service — Lite Translate
1. Acceptance of Terms
By installing or using Lite Translate ("the Extension"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please uninstall the Extension and discontinue use.
2. Description of Service
Lite Translate is a free browser extension that provides bilingual translation for web pages. It offers three translation modes: immersive translation, selection translation, and hover translation.
The Extension supports multiple translation providers including Google Translate, Microsoft Translator, DeepL, OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Ollama, LM Studio, LibreTranslate, and custom API endpoints.
3. License to Use
Tooolab Inc. grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Lite Translate on your own devices at no cost, subject to these Terms.
The Extension is proprietary software. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Extension, except to the extent such restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
4. Third-Party Translation Services
The Extension integrates with third-party translation APIs. When using these services:
- You are responsible for complying with the terms of service of each translation provider you use
- API keys you provide are stored locally and used solely to authenticate with your chosen provider
- We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or terms of any third-party service
- Free public APIs (Google Translate, Microsoft Translator) may have usage limits or change availability without notice
5. Translation Accuracy
Translation results are generated entirely by third-party services and may contain errors, inaccuracies, or omissions. Do not rely on translations for critical, legal, medical, financial, or safety-related purposes without independent professional verification.
We make no representations or warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any translation output.
6. User Responsibilities
- You are responsible for the content you translate and for complying with applicable laws
- You are responsible for safeguarding any API keys you configure in the Extension
- You agree not to use the Extension for any purpose that violates applicable local, national, or international law
- You are responsible for ensuring that your use of third-party translation services complies with their respective terms
7. Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle data.
In summary: Lite Translate does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. All user data remains locally in your browser.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Extension is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:
- Merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
- Accuracy or reliability of translation results
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation
- Compatibility with all websites or web applications
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developers and contributors of Lite Translate shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, arising from:
- Your use of or inability to use the Extension
- Inaccurate or misleading translation results
- Unauthorized access to your locally stored data
- Third-party API service interruptions or changes
- Any other matter relating to the Extension
10. Modifications to the Extension
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Extension at any time without notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Effective" date above. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
